Convert garage into bedroom?
Basically i want to convert a 2 car garage into an extra bedroom as cheaply as possible. Also, since it will be a temporary (about 2-3 year) room, it will eventually be converted back into a garage. It has 2 automatic openers which i plan on keeping in place, removing the hardware that extends into the room itself and drywalling off that end of a garage about 1ft. away from the doors. Also because of a 6-7 inch drop off between the concrete floor itself and the house (it is attached), I want to build a wooden deck that can be covered by insulation and carpet. No need for any plumbing or electrical work, it already has one window which i plan on putting in a window AC unit and using a space heater during the winter. Being in Louisiana our winter is maybe a month anyway. So in the end, the only expenses will come from the drywalling, building of the deck and carpeting. I haven’t measured, but its a typical 2 car garage, i would assume around the 22X22 ft dimensions, give or take 2 feet on each measurement. Me and my dad would be doing it, so costs would be strictly for materials. The garage does have a slope (another reason for the deck) that i would guess to be about 3 inches over the 22 feet, however it starts gradual and gets sharper the further away from the house you get.

How much will it cost to turn a garage into a living space?
Ok, here’s my scenario.
I’m kinda poor. I’m 17 and I want to live in my garage, but not until I’m 18.
My garage right now is used for basically nothing, it’s disgusting and gross and is NOT connected to my house, it was built in the 1920s. I want to transform it myself at a low price.
I don’t need anything fancy.
I’ll only need walls if I put in a bathroom, otherwise I can just use curtains.
I’ll still go into the house for meals, so I don’t need a fridge, although I might get a mini fridge.
There’s a few windows, but they don’t open, so I can just remove the glass and easily put in different glass that can be opened, right?
I think the biggest thing is putting in a bathroom and, like, sealing it, making sure it won’t flood and lots of bugs and critters can’t get in.
Also, since it is an old fashioned garage, it’s not electric or anything, sometimes the huge door for putting the car in, won’t stay closed (it’s wooden), so we might have to do something about that.
The bathroom tihng again, inside the garage was a small wooden workshop place, it still has the frames up, so I can just put up the wall part right? I don’t need to waste time with the frame and stuff?
And I can get really cheap sinks and bathtubs and faucets and stuff like that at places where companies got too much of something (like my family did when we remodeled our bathroom), so that I can get cheap.
What do you think might (roughly) be the overall cost? And I’m not getting new furniture really or anything.
Do I have the right idea of it all? Is it possible with me being in this financial situation?
(And as I said, I’m 17, it was just my birthday, so I don’t mind spending like a year on this project).

What is the best brand name for metal garage doors?
What BRAND of metal garage door would you recommend and why?
I am especially looking for an insulated door. Thanks
I am looking for BRANDS, not installation companies (Overhead Door Company is an installation company)
