How do I use cars/garage doors in the Sims 2?

So, I downloaded the Ford Mustang and the garage door for my Sims 2 game. They downloaded okay, and I installed both of them. I started up my game, and checked in the build mode menus (where the official site said they’d be) and didn’t see anything. Was I supposed to drag them in some Sims 2 folder? Where are they supposed to be found?

yes, I did doubleclick the garage and mustang icons on my desktop.
